Herring
scores 4th victory in last 5 Late Model Stock Car Division
events Saturday at South Boston Speedway SOUTH
BOSTON, VA. — Drew Herring of Benson, N.C. scored his second straight
Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car victory Saturday night at South Boston
Speedway. The win was also Herring's fourth in his last five races. The
Late Model Stock Car Division event was the featured attraction of NASCAR
Dodge Weekly Series racing action on the four-tenths mile asphalt oval. Herring
started on the outside of the front row and took the lead on the second
circuit of the race. Jason Dickerson of Ruckersville, Va. started from the
pole, but had to pit after two laps when he made contact with Herring and
had a right front tire go flat. Jonathan
Cash of Oxford, N.C. started sixth in the 19-car field, but motored to a
runner-up finish for the night. Cash grabbed second place on the track on
the 30th circuit of the race, but was unable to challenge
Herring for the triumph. Nick
Smith of Hampton, Va. roared from a 10th-place starting spot in
the race to tally a season-best third-place run, while Eddie Johnson of
Ashland, Va. was fourth after starting in the seventh slot. Wayne
Ramsey of Amherst, Va. rounded out the top five drivers in the field and
was followed in sixth place by Jon Denning of Springfield, N.J., who
started the night in the fourth position. Rodney
Cook of Reidsville, N.C. began the race from the 15th starting
position, but rallied for an eighth-place run, while Jonathan Bailey of
Keysville, Va. finished in ninth place as the final driver on the lead
lap. Tommy
Peregoy and Bruce Anderson collect triumphs in twin 50-lap races for
Limited Sportsman Division Tommy
Peregoy of Red Oak, Va. tallied his second straight victory of the season
in the first of two 50-lap races for the Strutmasters.com Limited
Sportsman Division, while Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va. managed his
sixth triumph of the season in the 50-lap nightcap for the division. Peregoy
placed second in the nightcap despite spinning out early on and falling to
the rear of the lead lap pack. Danny
Willis, Jr. of Cluster Springs, Va. was second in the opening 50-lap
event, while Anderson, the point leader for the division, placed third in
the 11-car field. Justin
Snow of Danville, Va. was fourth in the opening race, while Charles Barnes
of Chase City, Va. rounded out the top five competitors. Snow
followed Peregoy across the start-finish line to place third in the second
50-lap race of the night, while Timmy Langford of Amelia, Va. was fourth
in the event and Wesley Falk of Virginia Beach, Va. rounded out the top

Crosby grabs first Pure Stock win of season Courtney
Crosby of Scottsburg, Va. posted his fist Budweiser Pure Stock triumph of
the season during a 30-lap event Saturday night on the four-tenths mile
asphalt oval. Chuck
Watkins of Stem, N.C. secured a second-place position in the 12-car field
and maintained his lead in the chase for the division points crown. Quain
Moore of Callands, Va. motored to a third-place finish for the event.
Moore set the fast qualifying time for the race, but began from the ninth
position due to a pre-race inversion. Lee
Anderson of Gladys, Va. managed a fourth-place finish for the race, while
Corey Loveday of Cullen, Va. rounded out the top five drivers in the race. Smith
is winner in Southern Vintage Modifieds action Randy
Smith started from the pole and managed to score a triumph in the highly
competitive 25-lap race for the touring Southern Vintage Modified Series. Darryl
Lacks tallied a second-place run in the 13-car field and was followed by
Rodney Cook in the third-place position. Bill Lacks rounded out the top
four drivers after beginning the race in the sixth slot.
