BARKER TAKES CRAFTSMAN 150 WIN AT SOUTH BOSTON SPEEDWAY

SOUTH BOSTON, VA…..Adam Barker of Hurt, Va. made it two wins in a row Saturday night, winning the Craftsman 150 here at South Boston
Speedway.  Barker, driving a Chevrolet, held off Rodney Cook of Reidsville, N.C.  in a two-lap sprint to the finish that followed the last of the race's
five caution periods to get the win in the Barkhouser Late Model Stock
Car Division. His margin of victory was .833 second or about three car
lengths.
Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. finished third with Eddie Johnson of
Midlothian, Va. and C.E. Falk III of Virginia Beach, Va. rounding out
the top five finishers.  Jason Dickerson of Ruckersville, Va., Richard Storm of Partlow, Va., Scott Turlington of Richmond, Va. and Matt Lofton of Timberlake, N.C. and Owen Miller of Emporia, Va. completed the top ten finishers.
Only the top five finishers were on the lead lap at the end of the race.
Barker started on the pole and led the entire event. The Hurt, Va.
resident built comfortable leads on several occasions only to have to
fight off Cook and Ramsey in two restarts thanks to a pair of late-race crashes that pushed the race to an extended 160-lap distance to provide a two-lap green-flag dash to the finish. Twenty-six cars started the race but a rash of mishaps and attrition left just over half of the field on the track at the end. Barker averaged 51.910 mph in the race that took an hour and 14
minutes to complete.

Willis Scores First Win Of Season
Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs scored his first win of the young
season, edging Brian Pembleton of Amelia, Va. in a two-lap sprint to
the finish to win the 50-lap NASCAR Limited Sportsman Division race.
Defending division champion, Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va.,
rallied from a mishap on lap 31 to finish third. Anderson had won the
first three races of the season in the division.  Rookie George Spencer of Halifax, Va. finished fourth and Stephanie Brooks rounded out the top five finishers.  The race was punctuated by three caution periods.

Watkins Takes Pure Stock Win
Defending Budweiser Pure Stock Division champion Chuck Watkins of
Stem, N.C. picked up his second win of the season in the 30-lap race.
Watkins took the lead from Jarrett Milam of Ringgold, Va. with seven
laps to go and held on the rest of the way to take the win.
Milam finished second and Courtney Crosby of Scottsburg, Va. finished
third. However, both were disqualified by NASCAR officials after they
refused to submit their cars to a post-race inspection.
As a result, William Ridgway of Burlington, N.C. was elevated to
second place with Joey Throckmorton of Scottsburg, Va., Chris Seay of
Ringgold, Va. and Lee Anderson of Gladys, Va. rounding out the top
five finishers in the final rundown.

Smith Takes Southern Vintage Modifieds Race
Randy Smith of Bassett, Va. started on the pole and led all the way in
winning the 25-lap race for the Southern Vintage Modifieds Racing
Association.  Smith had his hands full the entire race, especially at the end, when a caution flag with one lap to go created a two-lap green-flag dash to
the finish. The late caution period didn't derail his effort, though, as he held off Rodney Cook of Reidsville, N.C. by a car length with Darryl Lacks of Forest, Va. taking third place, a car length behind Cook.

Patrick Wins INEX Legends Cars Race
Cameron Patrick of Yorktown, Va. picked up his first win of the season
here, scoring a flag-to-flag win in the 25-lap race for the INEX
Legends Cars.  Brad Hancock of Newport News, Va., Kevin Yeatts of Powhatan, Va., Scotty Edwards of Richmond, Va. and Sparky West rounded out the top five finishers.
