USG PRESENTS

LITTLE CAESER'S MOM'S NIGHT OUT 150

RAMSEY, CASH SPLIT LMSC WINS AT SOUTH BOSTON SPEEDWAY

SOUTH BOSTON, VA……Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. and Jonathan Cash of Oxford, N.C. scored wins in the twin 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division races that highlighted Saturday night’s USG Presents Little Caesar’s Night event here at South Boston Speedway.

The wins by Ramsey and Cash made it a sweep for Fords on the night and made it four different winners in four races this season here at America’s Hometown Track. Justin Johnson of Durham, N.C. and Dude Gibbs of Seaford, Va. were the winners of the first two races of the season at South Boston Speedway.

Saturday night’s win in the second 75-lap Late Model Stock Car race was Cash’s first career win in the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car division at South Boston Speedway.

Both races of the twin 75-lap Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division event featured 27-car starting fields and were exciting races that came down to the wire in the closing laps.

In the first 75-lap race, Ramsey, last year’s runner-up in the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division, started on the pole and led the entire race. However he had to survive a tough challenge from former South Boston Speedway and NASCAR national champion Philip Morris of Ruckersville, Va. and C.E. Falk, III of Virginia Beach, Va. to get the win.

Ramsey’s win over Morris came by a scant .345 second, about a car length, in a 41-lap run to the checkered flag following the race’s final caution period. Falk finished a car length behind Morris with Cash, and Justin Johnson of Durham, N.C. rounding out the top five finishers.

Jonathan Bailey of Keysville, Va., former South Boston Speedway and NASCAR national champion, Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va., Greg Edwards of Poquoson, Va., Eddie Johnson of Midlothian, Va. and Joey Coulter of Miami Springs, Fla. rounded out the top 10 finishers.

Driving a Ford owned by Charlie and Robert Long, Cash battled Morris and Falk throughout the second race. He survived several bids by Falk just past the midway point of the race and then had to fend off the duo in a two-lap green-flag sprint to the finish that followed the race’s final caution period.

Cash, who led all but the first lap of the race, edged Falk by .256 second, less than a car length with Morris trailing Falk by about a car length.

Edwards and Ramsey followed Cash, Falk and Morris across the finish line to round out the top five finishers in the nightcap. Sellers, Eddie Johnson, Justin Johnson, Bailey and Coulter rounded out the top ten finishers.

Ramsey averaged 60.049 mph in the first race. Cash averaged 42.181 mph in the second race, which was slowed by three caution periods.

PULLIAM TAKES LIMITED SPORTSMAN DIVISION WIN

Lee Pulliam of Semora, N.C. became the first repeat winner in the Limited Sportsman Division, taking the win in Saturday night’s 50-lap Limited Sportsman Division race.

Pulliam held off Tommy Peregoy of Red Oak, Va. and two-time defending division champion, Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va. in a three-lap sprint to the finish that followed the race’s final caution period.

The action-packed race featured a torrid battle for the top spot between Anderson and Pulliam. Pulliam and Anderson were battling for the lead when their two cars made contact in the second turn on lap 38 and one car ran up and over the fender of the other.

Both drivers were able to straighten up their cars but not before Peregoy dove to the inside and pulled alongside of Pulliam on the backstretch to challenge for the lead. Pulliam mustered up enough power, however, to gain the lead by the time the three cars reached the fourth turn.

Pulliam was credited with taking the lead on the 39th lap and he held on the rest of the way to pick up his second win of the season. His margin of victory over Peregoy was .956 second.

Anderson, Brian Pembleton of Amelia, Va., and Steve Collins of Clover, Va., driving a Chevrolet fielded by the students and instructors of the Halifax County (Va.) Motorsports Academy, rounded out the top five finishers.

OTHER ACTION

Jarrett Milam of Ringgold, Va. took the lead from Mark Francisco of Halifax, Va. on the 16th lap and held off Joe Allred of Scottsburg, Va. in a five-lap sprint to the finish to win the 30-lap race for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.

Justin Tucker of Elon, N.C. finished third with Quain Moore of Callands, Va. and Keith Langston of Pittsboro, N.C. rounding out the top five finishers.

There were two lead changes among three drivers with Milam taking the lead on the 16th lap and leading the entire second half of the race.

Bill Blair of Thomasville, N.C. took the lead on the second lap and held on the rest of the way to win the 20-lap race for the Legendary Ford Flatheads Racing Association.

Randy Apple of Reidsville, N.C. and Jerry King of Burlington, N.C. rounded out the top three finishers.
