South Boston Speedway will close the 2005 racing season with the SoBo 300 on Nov. 12
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Believe it or not, the 2005 racing season is coming to a close. But, before the curtain closes on the current campaign, South Boston Speedway will present the SoBo 300 on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The event, which will feature the top Late Model Stock Car Division competitors up and down the East Coast will get the green flag at 3 p.m. The winner of the season-ending SoBo 300 will pocket a $15,000 first-place check.
The two-day event will get cranked up on Friday, Nov. 11 when pit gates will open for competitors at 7:30 a.m. A mandatory meeting for drivers and crew chiefs will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 and will be followed by practice at 3 p.m. and qualifying time trials at 4 p.m. The top 15 competitors will earn spots in the field for the SoBo 300 during qualifying.
On Saturday, Nov. 12, registration will begin at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a mandatory meeting for drivers and crew chiefs at 10 a.m. Grandstand gates will open on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. and will be followed by the first qualifying race at noon and the last chance race at 1:30 p.m.
Prior to the SoBo 300, the speedway will host an open practice on Saturday, Oct. 29 to enable competitors to get their cars dialed in prior to the season finale. The open practice will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will include a lunch break from noon until 1 a.m.
Tickets for the SoBo 300 are currently available at the speedway office. General admission tickets are priced at $10 in advance for adults. Tickets on the day of the race will sell for $15. Youth, ages 10-15, will be admitted for $10 and children, ages nine and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.
