5.26.07 Barker Emerges As New South Boston Speedway Points Leader SOUTH BOSTON. - South Boston Speedway has a new points leader entering Saturday night's Sam Ard 150 racing program. Veteran Eddie Johnson of Midlothian, Va. is in third place in the points standings, 32 points out of the lead with C.E. Falk of Virginia Beach, Va. in fourth place, 52 points down, and Rodney Cook of Reidsvlle, N.C. rounding out the top five and standing 14 points behind Falk. The Sam Ard 150 racing program will get the green flag at 7 p.m., and will include five races highlighted by the Late Model Stock Car Division race. Saturday night's action will also include races for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division, the Southern Vintage Modifieds and the INEX Legends Cars. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. with qualifying set for 5:15 p.m. Pre-race activities will start at 6:30 p.m. and the first race will get the green flag at 7 p.m. Saturday night's Sam Ard 150 event will be an event that will be both a tribute and benefit event for former South Boston Speedway NASCAR Late Model Sportsman Division champion and two-time NASCAR Busch Series National Champion Sam Ard. To help the Ard Family, South Boston Speedway has set a $10 admission price for the five-race event and will donate $2 from each ticket sold to the Ards. Youths ages 10-15 admitted for $5. Kids ages nine and under will be admitted free. Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va., the 2005 South Boston Speedway NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Division champion and the 2005 NASCAR Weekly Series national champion, will return to competition at South Boston Speedway Saturday night in the 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division. As a tribute to Ard, the 1982 South Boston Speedway NASCAR Late Model Sportsman Division champion, Sellers will drive a car that will be painted to resemble the well-known No. 00 Thomas Brothers Country Hams Oldsmobile that Ard drove to numerous wins. In addition, former South Boston Speedway and NASCAR Weekly Series national champion, Barry Beggarly of Pelham, N.C. will also be in attendance.
