5.24.08 4 Late Model races in 2008 at SoBo, 4 different drivers earn victories SOUTH BOSTON, VA. - If variety is your preference, then South Boston Speedway has what you're looking for in the 2008 racing season. Through four Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division races at America's Hometown Track in 2008, there have been four different winners. This past weekend, Wayne Ramsey and Jonathan Cash notched victories in NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing action at South Boston Speedway in twin 75-lap events for the Barkhouser Late Models. In earlier action this season, Justin Johnson and Dude Gibbs have each found their way to Victory Lane. South Boston Speedway will return to action on Saturday, May 24, for the running of the Craftsman presents Charles Anderson Lawn Care Night. The Barkhouser Late Models will highlight that event, which will get underway at 7 p.m., with a 150-lap battle on the four-tenths mile asphalt oval. Ramsey's victory last weekend helped propel him into the lead in the chase for the 2008 Late Model championship at South Boston Speedway. Ramsey owns a slim six-point edge over Justin Johnson, while Philip Morris sits third in the standings, just one point behind Justin Johnson and two ahead of a fourth-place tie between Eddie Johnson and C.E. Falk. The Limited Sportsman Division competitors will compete in a 50-lap race on May 24. Lee Pulliam, a two-time winner this season, currently leads the division's title chase by 21 points over two-time defending Limited Sportsman champion Bruce Anderson, who has one victory to his credit this season. Also slated for action on May 24 will be the Budweiser Pure Stock Division drivers in twin races and the Yellow Book USA Southern Vintage Modifieds. Pit gates will open at 1 p.m. on May 24. Practice for all divisions will run from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get cranked up at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10 for adults.
