Pembelton atop Limited Sportsman standings after strong start to '09 season at SoBo
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division will serve as the featured attraction of the USG Night 150 Saturday night at South Boston Speedway, but many eyes will also be focused on the Limited Sportsman Division where Brian Pembelton has surged to the front of the pack through the first three races of 2009.
Pembelton has tallied one victory and two second-place finishes thus far this season to grab a 19-point edge over 16-year-old Jeb Burton, the son of Ward Burton. The Limited Sportsman drivers will be in action again Saturday night as part of the USG Night 150. The first of four races for the evening will get the green flag at 7 p.m.
In addition to the 150-lap Late Model Stock Car race and the Limited Sportsman action, America's Hometown Track will also host the Budweiser Pure Stocks and the Southern Vintage Modifieds in racing action.
While Pembelton and Burton sit atop the Limited Sportsman Division standings, there is a tight race also ongoing for third place. Brian Cole owns the position, but is only two points ahead of a fourth-place tie between Brandon Gdovic and Danny Willis, Jr.
