Charles Anderson Lawn Care 150 slated Saturday, May 23 at South Boston Speedway
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway's next action-packed night of racing is scheduled for Saturday, May 23.
On that night, America's Hometown Track will host the Charles Anderson Lawn Care 150 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series race program. The first of five races slated for the evening will get the green flag at 7 p.m.
Highlighting the night of racing action will be a 150-lap race for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car Division as well as twin 50-lap races for the competitors in the Limited Sportsman Division.
One-time winner Justin Johnson currently sits atop the Late Model Stock Car point standings. He owns a 26-point cushion over defending NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion Philip Morris, who has posted a trio of victories at South Boston Speedway thus far this year. Deac McCaskill, who has posted one win this year, is third in the standings, just four points behind Morris.
Brian Pembelton, who has motored to Victory Lane twice this season, is atop the Limited Sportsman standings. He is 30 points ahead of second-place Jeb Burton. Just 10 points behind Burton in the third position is two-time winner Tommy Peregoy.
Others events slated on May 23 include races for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Southern Vintage Modifieds.
Mickey Cassidy, who owns a pair of wins and two second-place finishes this season, leads the Pure Stock standings by 14 points over Courtney Crosby, who is 10 points ahead of third-place Chris Crosby.
Pit gates will open May 23 at 12:45 p.m. Practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:15 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults. Youth, ages 7-12, will be admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult and children, ages six and under, are admitted free with a paid adult.
