Twin 75-lap Late Model Stock Car races will highlight SoBo's June 13 racing action
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway's competitors will take the weekend off this week, but a full slate of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action is slated for the following weekend.
America's Hometown Track will resume racing action on Saturday, June 13, with five action-packed races planned for the evening. The first race of the night will get the green flag at 7 p.m.
Highlighting the racing action on June 13 will be a pair of 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car Division.
Justin Johnson is the current points leader in the Late Model Stock Car ranks. He sits 22 points ahead of second-place Deac McCaskill. Philip Morris is third in the standings and is followed in the top five by Eddie Johnson and David Quackenbush.
Also slated on June 13 are events for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Southern Vintage Modifieds.
Brian Pembelton has opened a 39-point cushion over second-place Jeb Burton in the chase for the Limited Sportsman Division championship. Tommy Peregoy is third in the standings, just four points ahead of fourth-place Danny Willis Jr., while Brandon Gdovic rounds out the top five in the standings.
Only 18 points separate the top three drivers in the Pure Stock Division standings. Mickey Cassidy is the division leader by 10 points over Courtney Crosby, while Chris Crosby is third in the standings.
Pit gates will open June 13 at 12:00 p.m. Practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:15 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults. Youth, ages 7-12, will be admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult and children, ages six and under, are admitted free with a paid adult.
