South Boston Speedway prepping for first of back-to-back weekends of racing action
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The 2010 NASCAR Whelen All American Series action at South Boston Speedway is about to get into full swing this weekend, as America's Hometown Track will host the first of back-to-back racing events.
Both events will get the green flag at 7 p.m. This weekend, South Boston Speedway will be hosting the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Twin 75s race program. The featured events of the night will be a pair of 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.
Also featured as part of the four-event program Saturday night will be races for the Limited Sportsman Division and the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.
The early season racing action in each of the divisions has been extremely competitive and the point standings have reflected that.
Justin Johnson and Tommy Lemons have each claimed NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car victories this season and the two are tied atop the division standings, a mere 13 points ahead of a third-place tie between Philip Morris and Deac McCaskill.
Justin Snow and Tommy Peregoy have each visited Victory Lane in the Limited Sportsman Division. Snow is in first in the chase for division crown. He is four points ahead of Peregoy, while Danny Willis Jr. is in third place, only five points behind Snow.
In the Budweiser Pure Stock ranks, Randy Hupp, who has one win this season, leads the standings. Joe Allred is second and is just seven points behind Hupp. Trey Crews and Daniel Crews are tied for third, just six points behind Allred.
Pit registration will begin at noon on Saturday. Practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:15 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Adult admission is $10 with children, ages 7-12, admitted for $5 and children six and under admitted free with a paying adult.
