6.11.11 Agnew wins USARacing Pro Cup Series 250 Agnew, of Floyd, Va., qualified fifth but worked his way through the pack to pass pole sitter Caleb Holman for the lead on lap 75, shortly before a one-hour rain delay. Agnew was fifth after pitting for fuel on lap 83 but quickly made his way through the field again to shoot past Charlotte, N.C., driver J.P. Morgan, and Agnew stayed ahead the rest of the way in a race that was delayed five times by cautions. Morgan finished second, with Brad Rogers of Mooresville, N.C., Tyler Young of Midland, TX, Matt Lofton of Roxboro, N.C., and Holman of Abingdon, Va., rounding out the top five finishers. Agnew's margin of victory was 1.522 seconds in a race that lasted two hours and 26 minutes and featured five lead changes among four drivers, including Agnew, Morgan, Young and Holman, who qualified on the pole with a time of 15.842 sec. Stierwalt wins 50-lap Allison Legacy race Jansen Stierwalt of Salisbury, N.C., led the entire way in winning the 50-lap Allison Legacy Series race Saturday night. Stierwalt finished less than a car length ahead of John Nemecek, in a two-car battle that lasted virtually the entire race. Dale Ogburn finished third, followed by Ryan Mackintosh in a race delayed twice by cautions. Next Race At South Boston Speedway NASCAR racing action returns to South Boston Speedway Saturday night, June 18, with the running of the Halifax County Business Appreciation Late Model Twin 75s racing program. The five-event program will be headlined by twin 75-lap races for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division. Also included on the night's program are races for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the regional touring Legendary Flathead Ford Racing Association. A portion of the ticket price of each general admission ticket sold for the race will go to help support the new Pediatrics Center under construction at Lynchburg General Hospital. Fans will have a chance to win a SoBo Family Race Package that includes four VIP Suite tickets to a race of the fan's choice at South Boston Speedway and hotel room on race night, or four Club Level tickets to the Aug. 7 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway. Practice will go Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Qualifying time trials will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the first race will start at 7 p.m. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for youths ages 7-12 when accompanied by a paying adult. Kids ages six and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
