Halifax County Business Appreciation Late Model Twin 75 program set Saturday at SoBo

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Want to treat dad to a special night out during Father's Day weekend? If so, South Boston Speedway has the perfect treat.

America's Hometown Track is set to return to racing action Saturday night, June 18, for the running of the Halifax County Business Appreciation Late Model Twin 75 racing program.

The featured attractions of the night will be a pair of 75-lap races for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. There will be a total of five races Saturday night with the first event of the evening getting cranked up at 7 p.m.

Two weeks ago, Peyton Sellers snapped a nine-race win streak by current points leader Philip Morris in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. The win was the second of the current campaign for Sellers.

Morris, a three-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion, will try to launch into another win streak this weekend when he enters the twin 75 lap races with a commanding 115-point advantage over two-time defending division champion Justin Johnson.

Female competitor Natalie Sather is third in the points and is only 12 points behind Johnson. Josh Oakley and Dennis Holdren round out the top five competitors in the Late Model Stock Car points chase.

Also slated Saturday night will be races for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the touring Legendary Flathead Ford Racing Association.

On the strength of two victories two weeks ago in the Limited Sportsman Division, Danny Willis Jr. has vaulted into a tie for first place in the division standings with Brian Pembelton. Defending champion Justin Snow is third in the standings, while Bobby McCarty is fourth.

Trey Crews used a victory two weeks ago to leap atop the points standings in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division. Crews is six points ahead of previous leader Joe Allred, while Randy Hupp is third and is only 13 points behind Allred.

Fans attending Saturday's Halifax County Business Appreciation Late Model Twin 75 program will have the opportunity to win a SoBo Family Race Package that includes four VIP Suite tickets to the race of the fan's choice and hotel room on race night or four Club Level tickets to the Aug. 7 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway.

Pit registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Practice for all divisions will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and admission will be $10 for adults and children six and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.
