8.7.11 Rain Washes Out Sunoco 150 At SBS Three-time former NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Champion Philip Morris of Ruckersville, Va. scored his 11th pole win of the season and was leading Dennis Holdren of Roanoke, Va. by about four car lengths when rain began falling on the 32nd lap. Former South Boston Speedway track champion Brandon Butler of Sutherland, Va. and Matt Waltz of Newport News, Va. were running third and fourth respectively when the race was stopped. Track NASCAR officials put out the caution flag four laps later as the rain picked up in intensity and stopped the race on lap 39. Austin Thaxton of Cluster Springs, Va. scored his first pole win of the season and finished second to McCarty in a 14-lap green-flag sprint to the finish that followed the race's final caution flag. Thaxton trailed McCarty by .805 second at the finish. Brian Pembelton of Amelia, Va. and division points leader Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs, Va. were involved in a multi-car mishap on the first lap of the race but rallied to finish third and fourth respectively. J.D. Eversole of Richmond, Va. rounded out the top five finishers.
