South Boston Speedway Switches To Twin Late Model Races This Weekend

South Boston, VA -South Boston Speedway officials announced today the track will switch to twin 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division races to headline Saturday night's American National Presents Charles Anderson Lawn Care Night Late Model Twin 75's racing program.

The original five-event program had a 150-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division race as the featured event. However, due to the rainout of this past Saturday night's event, track officials have changed the event to make it a twin-race event for the Late Model Stock Car Division competitors and make the night's program a six-race card.

"The rain this past Saturday night did not allow us to get in the scheduled races for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division or the Budweiser Pure Stock Division," noted South Boston Speedway General manager Cathy Rice.
"We try to be fair to all of our competitors and get in as many of the races on our schedule as possible. In order to do that, we have changed this week's 150-lap Late Model Stock Car Division race to a twin 75-lap event, thus giving the competitors two races this weekend. By having two races, the competitors will not lose a race."

Rice said the speedway will also change the format of the Saturday night, September 3 racing program to make that night's event include twin races for the competitors in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division. In doing that, the competitors in the Budweiser Pure

Stock Division will be able to make up the race that was lost this past Saturday night due to rain.
South Boston Speedway will honor fans' rain checks from this past Saturday night's race at this weekend's event only. Track officials also noted that pit passes from last week's rained out event will also be honored this Saturday night for all of the divisions that did not complete their event.

Six races will be featured in Saturday night's 7 p.m. running of the American National Presents Charles Anderson Lawn Care Night Late Model Twin 75's event.

Twin 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division races, twin races for the Limited Sportsman Division and races for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Southern Vintage Modified Division are slated as part of the night's action.

Practice will go from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Qualifying time trials will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the first race will start at 7 p.m.

Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 7-12 when accompanied by a paying adult. Kids ages six and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
