South Boston Speedway’s annual Open Practice & Media Day scheduled Saturday, March 2
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The weather outside may brrrrrr chilly now, but action will soon be heating up at South Boston Speedway.
The season-opening event at America’s Hometown Track is scheduled for Saturday, March 9. And, prior to that event, South Boston Speedway will host its annual Open Practice and Media Day on Saturday, March 2.
The March 2 practice session will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is open to all divisions.
Fans are invited to attend the March 2 practice session. Grandstands will be open and no admission will be charged.
The 2013 season at America’s Hometown Track will roar to life on Saturday, March 9, with the running of the Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100’s racing program.
The season-opening event will also feature action for the Limited Sportsman Division and the Pure Stock Division. The first three NASCAR Whelen All American Series events of the 2013 campaign at America’s Hometown Track will feature afternoon starts.
South Boston Speedway is once again offering season tickets for the upcoming season. Season tickets are priced at only $150 and are good for all 17 of the action-packed racing events slated in the upcoming season at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval.
Among the many highlights of the 2013 season at South Boston Speedway will be the annual 200-lap NASCAR Whelen Late Model Stock Car race and the annual Fireworks Extravaganza, which will be held on July 3. That event will also feature a 100-lap race for the Limited Sportsman Division and a 50-lap race for the Pure Stock Division.
South Boston Speedway will also host the touring PASS Super Late Model Series for three events in 2013. Those events are scheduled on May 11, June 8, and Aug. 17. All three of those events will also feature twin races for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will visit the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval on Saturday, April 13. That event will also feature twin races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.
Track officials have also announced that the high-powered modifieds that run on a regular basis at Langley Speedway will battle it out in six races on five different dates in 2013 at America’s Hometown Track.
The modified competitors are scheduled to race at America’s Hometown Track on March 23, April 20, May 4, July 13, and Sept. 14. The April 20 appearance will feature a pair of modified races.
South Boston Speedway has also announced plans to have a return visit of the popular Monster Truck Show in 2013. That event, which will feature fireworks, is slated for Sept. 21. It is included on the schedule in addition to the 17 racing events next year.
