Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100s racing program to kickoff SoBo’s season Saturday
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The hype and excitement has been building for months. The much-anticipated Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100s racing program will open the 2013 season at South Boston Speedway Saturday afternoon, March 9.
The featured attractions of the event will be a pair of 100-lap shootouts for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. The first race of the afternoon Saturday will get cranked up at 2 p.m.
The region’s best and most competitive NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will hit the four-tenths mile asphalt at America’s Hometown Track for the season-opening Late Model battles.
“Our fans and competitors circled Saturday, March 9 on their calendars several months ago and have been eagerly awaiting the start of the 2013 season,” South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said. “We are excited about having another great year of NASCAR short track racing action and can’t wait to drop the green flag on the new season Saturday afternoon.”
Also featured Saturday afternoon as part of the Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100s racing program will be events for the competitors in the Limited Sportsman Division and the drivers in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.
Pit gates will open Saturday at 8 a.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
Grandstand gates will open Saturday at noon and a mandatory drivers’ meeting is scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m.
Qualifying time trials to set the starting grids for the day of racing will roll off at 12:45 p.m.
Admission will be $10 for adults and children under the age of six will be admitted free with a paid adult.
