SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The top performers of the 2013 season at South Boston Speedway will be honored Saturday, Jan. 11, at a special awards ceremony at the Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center in South Boston.

The top three finishers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division, the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Modified Division will all be honored at the event.

Lee Pulliam, the winner of 16 events at America’s Hometown Track this season, claimed the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car crown at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval and, in the process, also secured the NASCAR Whelen All American Series national championship, his second consecutive national title.

Austin Thaxton placed second in the Late Model Stock Car Division ranks at South Boston Speedway, edging third-place Bobby McCarty by four points for the position.

Danny Willis, Jr. improved from a runner-up finish in the Limited Sportsman Division in 2012 to claim the division crown in 2013. Garrett Bunch was second in the title chase after nipping third-place Michael Maresca by one point.

Joe Allred secured the championship in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division, one season after finishing in the runner-up position in the title chase. Stuart Crews was second in the division’s championship chase. He was 18 points behind Allred. Austin Milam placed third in the standings.

Tanner Rumburg claimed the Modified Division crown by six points over second-place Jimmy Humblet and by eight points over third-place Chris Johnson.

The 2014 season will get cranked up on Saturday March 15 with a four-race event highlighted by twin 100-lap races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

Season tickets, priced at only $150, are currently on sale for the 2014 South Boston season. The 2014 schedule includes 17 events, highlighted by four touring series events.

The 2014 schedule includes four major touring series events. The track will host two races for the touring NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Those events are slated for April 5 and Sept. 13. Two races for the PASS South Super Late Model Series are also on the schedule, and are scheduled for June 7 and Aug. 16.

In addition to the four touring series events, South Boston Speedway also has other special events planned for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

The season-opening event will feature twin 100-lap Late Model Stock Car Division races, and on Thursday, July 3, America’s Hometown Track will host its annual pre-Fourth of July racing event, which will feature a 200-lap Late Model Stock Car Division event, a 100-lap Limited Sportsman race, a 50-lap Pure Stock Division race, and the traditional Fireworks Extravaganza at the close of the night.

Also highlighting the upcoming campaign will be the debut of the Hornets Division on Saturday, March 22. Seven races are on tap for the Hornets Division, an entry-level racing division featuring stock four-cylinder cars.
