Annual Open Practice/Media Day scheduled one week prior to SoBo’s season opener
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The season-opening event for the 2014 campaign at South Boston Speedway is now less than one month away. The excitement is growing as the new season will get cranked up on Saturday, March 15.
Prior to the green flag waving for the start of a new season of racing action at America’s Hometown Track, South Boston Speedway will host its annual Open Practice and Media Day on Saturday, March 8.
Registration and pit gates will open at 9 a.m. on March 8, and practice will begin at 10 a.m. The morning practice session will continue until noon. Following a lunch break at noon, a meeting for drivers and crew chiefs will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Practice will resume at 1 p.m. and then continue until 4 p.m. The pit garage will close at 5 p.m.
The season-opening Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100 is slated for Saturday, March 15, and will feature an afternoon starting time of 2 p.m. Grandstand gates will open for the first event of the campaign at noon.
Pit gates will open on March 15 at 9 a.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A mandatory meeting for drivers will be held at 11:45 p.m. and qualifying time trials will roll off at 12:30 p.m.
The season’s first event will feature four races, including twin 100-lap races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. The Limited Sportsman Division and the Budweiser Pure Stock Division will also be in action on March 15.
Season tickets, priced at only $150, are currently on sale for the upcoming campaign.
