Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at SoBo will feature a “Who’s Who List” of competitors

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The list of invitees for the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown reads like a “Who’s Who List” of stock car competitors.

South Boston Speedway will host the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, which benefits the Denny Hamlin Cystic Fibrosis Research Lab at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, Va. at Virginia Commonwealth University, on Thursday, April 24.

Advance tickets are on sale and priced at $20 for adults, and $10 for youth ages 12-17. Children ages 11 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult. Race day ticket prices will be $25 for adults and $15 for youth.

The Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown features a collection of NASCAR stars and local Late Model Stock Car stars racing for pride and to raise awareness and funding for the Denny Hamlin Foundation, which supports Cystic Fibrosis Research. The event is held as a weekday prelude to the weekend of NASCAR races at Richmond International Speedway.

Forty-seven drivers have been invited to the 2014 version of the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown. The invitees include top five Late Model Stock Car finishers from last year’s race at Richmond International Raceway, top finishers from the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 at Martinsville Speedway and top finishers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series points for Virginia.

The invitees will compete against some of NASCAR’s racing superstars, including Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Timothy Peters, Jeb Burton and others.

Among the invitees for the event are two-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam; Deac McCaskill, who was second in the national championship title hunt last year; former national champion Keith Rocco; C.E. Falk; Austin Thaxton; former national champions Peyton Sellers and Philip Morris; and many others.
