Bojangles NASCAR Late Model 150 scheduled on Dad’s Night this Saturday at South Boston

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway is offering the perfect Father’s Day Weekend treat for race fans Saturday night.

America’s Hometown Track will host the Bojangles NASCAR Late Model 150 racing program Saturday night, beginning at 7 p.m., and all dads will be honored with a special admission price of $5 on Dad’s Night.

The action-packed night will feature five events on the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval. The featured attraction of the evening will be a 150-lap race for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

Other events scheduled Saturday night include races for the competitors in the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division, the Modified Division and the Hornets Division.

Peyton Sellers, a former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion and South Boston Speedway champion, enters the night atop the standings in the chase for the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All American Series crown at America’s Hometown Track.

Sellers, who owns four wins at South Boston Speedway this year, leads second-place Matt Bowling, who is also a former South Boston Speedway NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division champion.

Sellers and Bowling are also among the top contenders in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series national championship standings. Sellers is currently fourth in the standings, while Bowling sits in seventh place.

Bowling is seven points ahead of third-place Austin Thaxton in the South Boston Speedway standings. Thaxton, who owns one victory this season, leads fourth-place Bobby McCarty and fifth-place Bruce Anderson.

On the strength of two wins this season, Trey Crews has opened a 16-point lead over Tommy Peregoy in the battle for the Limited Sportsman Division championship.

Peregoy is only one point ahead of one-time winner and defending division champion Danny Willis Jr. One-time winner J.D. Eversole is currently fourth in the standings. He is eight points behind Willis and 11 points ahead of fifth-place Daryn Cockram.

Greg Autry has amassed four triumphs this season on the way to opening a lad over Bruce Mayo in the chase for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division crown. Johnny Layne is third in the standings. He is eight points behind Mayo and 12 points ahead of fourth-place Harrison Walker.

Jimmy Humblet and Mike Rudy are currently tied for first place in the Modified Division standings. The two are 17 points ahead of a third-place tie between Kyle Wood and Joe Scarborough.

Kevin Currin owns a five point edge over second-place Austin Milam in the battle for the Hornets Division crown.

Pit gates will open on Saturday at 2 p.m. and practice for all divisions will beheld from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Qualifying time trials will roll off at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open 5 p.m.

Adult admission is $10 with kids ages six and under admitted free.
