Twin 75-lap Late Model Stock Car races to highlight Mom’s Night Out Saturday at SoBo

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway is set to drop the green flag on the Charles Anderson Lawn Care NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s racing program Saturday night, May 9.

The first of six action-packed events will get cranked up Saturday night at 7 p.m. Speedway officials will be honoring all mothers Saturday night as part of “Mom’s Night Out.” All mothers will be admitted for $5.

The featured attractions of the night will be twin 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. Also scheduled as part of the Charles Anderson Lawn Care NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s racing program are 50-lap events for the Limited Sportsman Division and the Modified Division, as well as events for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Budweiser Hornets Division.

Through the opening five NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division events this season at America’s Hometown Track, there have been four different drivers to visit Victory Lane, led by two-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam, who has claimed a pair of victories this season.

Other NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division winners this season at America’s Hometown Track include Philip Morris, a former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion; current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standout Timothy Peters; and Matt Bowling, a former South Boston Speedway Late Model Stock Car Division champion.

Pulliam is currently in first place in the 2015 South Boston Speedway NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division standings; however, he only has a narrow one-point cushion over Bowling.

Danny Willis Jr., the two-time defending Limited Sportsman Division champion, has grabbed wins in two of the first three events of the season and has garnered an eight-point edge over Trey Crews in the chase for the division crown.

Stuart Crews has posted one victory this season and leads Greg Autry by five points in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division standings. Jimmy Humblet, a one-time winner, leads the Modified Division standings, and two-time winner Eric Winslow is the points leader in the Budweiser Hornets Division.

Registration and pit gates will open Saturday at 2 p.m. with practice for all divisions scheduled from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get cranked up at 5:30 p.m.

Adult admission is $10. Children, ages six and under, will be admitted free with an adult.
