CenturyLink presents Whelen Night NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s program slated Saturday at SoBo

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — Seven action-packed races are scheduled Saturday night, July 11 at South Boston Speedway as part of the CenturyLink presents Whelen Night NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s racing program.

The first event of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing program will get cranked up at 7 p.m. on the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval.

The featured attractions of the night will be a pair of 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

Former South Boston Speedway NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division champion Matt Bowling has jumped to the top of the 2015 standings. Bowling is a one-time winner at America’s Hometown Track this season.

Two-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion Lee Pulliam, a four-time winner this season at South Boston Speedway, sits second in the standings. He trails Bowling by 17 points.

Austin Thaxton is third in the Late Model Stock Car standings and is followed in the top five by Bobby McCarty in fourth and Juan Garcia in fifth.

Also scheduled as part of the CenturyLink presents Whelen Night NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s racing program will be a 50-lap race for the drivers in the Limited Sportsman Division and twin 25-lap shootouts for the competitors in the Modified Division.

Danny Willis Jr., who is looking for his third consecutive Limited Sportsman Division championship, is currently leading the way in 2015 by 29 points over Trey Crews. Joey Throckmorton is just two points behind Crews in the battle for the Limited Sportsman Division crown.

Mike Rudy has grabbed a 12-point lead over Matt Slye in the chase for the Modified Division championship. Jimmy Humblet sits in third place and only trails Slye by one point.

Rounding out the night of racing on July 11 will be a 30-lap race for the drivers in Budweiser Pure Stock Division and an event for the competitors in the Budweiser Hornets Division.

When the Budweiser Pure Stock Division drivers hit the asphalt Saturday night, Greg Autry will carry a 25-point lead over Stuart Crews in the championship chase with him. D.J. Moser is in third place and only trails Crews by five points.

Eric Winslow leads the way in the Budweiser Hornets Division. He is 10 points ahead of second-place Kenny Mills and 17 points ahead of third-place Kirstin Simmons.

Registration and pit gates will open on July 11 at 2 p.m. with practice for all division scheduled from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get cranked up at 5:30 p.m.
