SUNOCO 150: Barker Tops Field In Sunoco 150
SOUTH BOSTON, VA. - Adam Barker of Hurt, Va. outran the field in a 27-lap green flag sprint to the finish to win the 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division that highlighted Saturday night's Sunoco 150 racing program here at South Boston Speedway.
Barker's win was his tenth of the season and was his third in his last four starts. His margin of victory over runner-up C.E. Falk of Virginia Beach, Va. was .778 second.
Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. finished third in a Ford with David Triplett Jr.of Timberlake, N.C. and Eddie Johnson of Midlothian, Va. rounding out the top five finishers.
Jon Denning of Springfield, N.J., Jonathan Bailey of Keysville, Va., Owen Miller of Emporia, Va., Michael Rouse of Wilson, N.C. and David Quackenbush of Lorton, Va rounded out the top ten finishers.
Barker started fourth but needed only little time to get to the front, taking the lead on lap 21 and holding on the rest of the way. A caution flag on lap 119 closed up the field and gave Falk and Ramsey one last shot at Barker.
Barker, however, got a good start on the restart on lap 123, opened up a three-car length gap and was never seriously challenged the rest of the way.
Barker averaged 69.858 mph in the race that took just over 51 minutes to complete. The race was slowed by three caution periods. |
