SOUTH BOSTON, VA. - Jonathan Cash of Oxford, N.C. picked up his second win of the season here Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Whelen 150 Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division race at South Boston Speedway.
Cash edged runner-up Deac McCaskill of Raleigh, N.C. in a two-lap sprint to the finish that followed the race's final caution period.
Jonathan Bailey of Keysville, Va., Rodney Cook of Reidsville, N.C. and Rusty Skewes rounded out the top five finishers.
Michael Rouse of Wilson, N.C., Justin Johnson of Durham, N.C., former South Boston Speedway champion Philip Morris of Ruckersville, Va., Daniel Watkins of Angier, N.C. and David Quackenbush of Lorton, Va. rounded out the top ten finishers.
Track points leader, Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va., who was involved in a pair of mishaps, including the final incident of the race, finished 11th.
Cash, driving a Ford, took the lead on lap 122 when the car driven by race leader, Dude Gibbs of Seaford, Va., pulled up lame with a broken ignition coil. That was the fourth lead change of the race. Johnson led once for 21 laps and Gibbs led 32 laps of the race.

Pulliam Takes Limited Sportsman Wins
Lee Pulliam of Semora, N.C. swept both 50-lap races of the day's twin-race Limited Sportsman Division event.
The wins were his third and fourth wins of the season.
Pulliam edged Tommy Peregoy of Red Oak, Va. in a two-lap sprint to the finish to win the first 50-lap race. His margin of victory was .486 second, or about three car lengths. Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va., Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs, Va. and Brian Pembelton of Amelia, Va. rounded out the top five finishers.
The second 50-lap race was clearly the most exciting race of the season with Pulliam and Anderson battling each other hard in a four-lap dash to the finish that followed the race's final caution period.
The two drivers were side-by-side for the entire last lap with the two cars crashing and banging into each other and the outside front stretch wall as they raced to the checkered flag. When the two cars hit the line, Pulliam's car was scant inches ahead of Anderson's.
Willis finished third with Timmy Langford of Amelia, Va. and Joey Throckmorton of Scottsburg, Va. rounding out the top five finishers. |
