Ramsey Wins Italian Delight 150

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. - Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. scored his fourth win of the season here Saturday night, leading the entire distance to win the 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division that highlighted Saturday night's Italian Delight 150 racing program here at South Boston Speedway.

Ramsey edged runner-up Justin Johnson of Durham, N.C. by 3.669 seconds in the caution-free race.

C.E. Falk III of Virginia Beach, Va., Deac McCaskill of Raleigh, N.C. and Dustin Storm of Huntington, Md. rounded out the top five finishers.

Ronald Hill of Rougemont, N.C. finished sixth and was the final driver to finish on the lead lap. Joey Coulter of Miami Springs, Fla., Owen Miller of Emporia, Va., Jon Denning of Springfield, NJ and Jonathan Bailey of Keysville, Va. completed the top ten.

Ramsey controlled most of the race but had to fend off Johnson when Johnson caught him and pulled alongside on lap 91. After several laps of side-by-side racing Ramsey cleared Johnson. Once Ramsey got clear he pulled away to a comfortable margin before backing off a tad in the winning laps.

With no caution periods to slow the race, Ramsey averaged a blistering 86.796 mph.

The win was a big one for Ramsey in terms of the division championship chase. With the win, Ramsey unofficially increased his lead over Johnson from 15 points to 22 points with two races remaining in South Boston Speedway's points season.

Falk, Pulliam Split Limited Sportsman Twin Bill

Wesley Falk of Virginia Beach, Va. and Lee Pulliam of Semora, N.C. split wins in the pair of 50-lap Limited Sportsman Division races.

The win by Falk in the first race was his second win of the season. Pulliam's win in the nightcap was his fifth victory of the season and put him atop the division's win column.

Falk inherited the win in the first race after Pulliam and two-time defending division champion, Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va., tangled with two laps to go with Anderson spinning in the fourth turn. Pulliam took the lead but fell to the back of the pack after track NASCAR officials assessed Pulliam a penalty in the wake of the incident, putting Pulliam at the rear of the field.

Another caution flag was waved one lap after the restart when Greg DeJarnette spun, setting up a two-lap green-flag sprint to the finish.

Falk, who was in the lead at that point, held off Tommy Peregoy of Red Oak, Va. by .466 second to pick up the win. Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs, Va., Jeb Burton of Halifax, Va. and Steve Collins of Clover, Va. rounded out the top five finishers.

Anderson finished seventh and Pulliam finished tenth.

In the second race, Pulliam started on the pole, took the lead on the opening lap and sped to victory, holding off Falk by .447 second in a six-lap dash to the finish following the race's final caution period.

Anderson, Peregoy and Willis rounded out the top five finishers.

Falk averaged 50.191 mph in winning the first race while Pulliam averaged 68.760 mph in winning the second race.
