What to expect: 
You should expect an action-packed, high-octane, family fun time!

What entering the track is like: 
Our ticket booth gates opens just as practice is beginning.
You can purchase tickets online in advance, over the phone in advance or at a ticket booth on event days. We accept cash or debit/credit cards. (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)
Once you purchase your tickets, you'll head through the gates and be ready for a fun time!

What race day is like:
Once the gates are open, fans are able to watch practice and qualifying leading up to pre-race ceremonies.
Multiple divisions of cars will be racing throughout the event, so listen out to the PA system or set your scanner to radio station 105.7 FM to stay up to speed with everything happening on track!

Question 2

General Ticket Info / Pricing / Youth Policy

South Boston Speedway offers numerous ways to accommodate guests with their ticketing needs.
 
Advance Ticketing:
Advance ticketing is the most convenient option we offer. You can order online (the best option), over the phone, or in person at our main track office. 
 
At the Gate:
Tickets are also available for sale at the gate. Day-of event tickets are generally aa higher price point than advance tickets.

Kids & Youth Policy: 
Kids 12 and under get into our events free with a paying adult. Anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a paying parent or guardian. An adult "friend" does not apply for the purpose of this policy.

2026 Prices:
NASCAR Local Racing Series Events (Dates: 4/4, 4/18, 5/2, 5/16, 5/30, 6/13, 7/11, 8/1, 8/22, 8/29, 9/12)
Standard Adult: $12 advance / $15 race day
Kids 12 & Under: FREE
Seniors 65+, military/veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, students: $12 (with ID on race day)

SMART Modified Tour - King of the Modifieds (3/21), Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 (6/27)
Adult: $20 advance / $25 race day
Kids 12 & Under: FREE
Seniors 65+, military/veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, students: $20 (with ID on race day)

CARS Tour Championship (10/17)
Adult: $25 advance / $30 race day
Kids 12 & Under: FREE
Seniors 65+, healthcare workers, students, veterans, first responders: $25 (with ID on race day)

Question 3

Weather Policy

Nobody likes rainy days at the racetrack, and we always give our best effort to fully complete race events.

Our Weather Policy is as follows:
If half or more of the event (half of the total laps) are completed, the event is considered official. At that point rain checks will not be issued, and the event will not be made up.

If less than half of the event (half of the total laps) are completed, we will issue rain checks (vouchers) for all purchased tickets in the week following the event, unless the event is rescheduled to the following day. If the event is rescheduled to the following day, no refunds or vouchers will be issued, and tickets will be honored at the gate.

We do not issue monetary refunds in the event of a cancelation.

For Competitors:
For competitors specifically, if half of the laps of their individual race has been completed, the race is official. If less than half of the laps of their individual race has been completed, the race is not completed, and we may adjust future schedules accordingly. Information will be communicated to teams during a drivers meeting if a race is postponed for weather or cancelled.

Question 4

What are the race day schedules? How long do races last?

Races are always scheduled on Saturday afternoons and evenings.

Day races begin with a 2:00 PM green flag time, and Night races with a 7:00 PM green flag.

From the first green flag of the event to the final checkered flag, events will typically last around three hours, normally including between four and six individual races.

Refreshments / Concessions / Alcohol / Coolers

Refreshments:
South Boston Speedway is Home of the World-Famous Bologna Burger!

We have many different Concessions Stands on property with great food and drinks. 
​
Alcohol is served on property for guests 21 and older. We ID everyone purchasing beverages containing alcohol. Visit The Track Bar underneath the Main Grandstand for a wide selection of alcoholic beverages.
 
Coolers: 
Bringing your own cooler is permitted. For the grandstand/general seating areas, we ask that coolers not be over 14 inches. ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS is permitted in any coolers.

Seating

Grandstands:
Our facility offers a main grandstand on the frontstretch and other grandstands in Turn 1 and Turn 4. Fans can bring seat cushions/stadium chairs, but the grandstands do not accommodate lawn chairs.
 
While most of our events are general admission (meaning you can sit anywhere), some may include reserved grandstand seating. 
 
Bring-Your-Own:
Fans can bring their own fold-out/lawn style chairs and sit along Turns 1 and 2 and Turns 3 and 4.

Accessibility:
We have a designated area in Turn 4 for handicap accessible (ADA) seating, as well as two paved parking lots on either side of our front ticket office for handicap accessible parking.

For the Kids

We are an extremely family-friendly venue and offer numerous free things for children to enjoy. Our facility features a full playground complete with a swing set, slide and more. 
 
Children 12 and under get in free to all of our NASCAR Local Racing Series events, and most other events at the speedway.

Question 8

Pit Passes (General Info & Minor Pit Passes)

Individuals outside of a race team can purchase pit passes from the booth outside of Turn 2.

All individuals buying a pass must be 20 years or older, unless accompanied by a guardian (a minor release form must be filled out for individuals under the age of 20). Please keep in mind the minor release form must be filled out in front of a track representative or official notary.

All individuals entering the infield must sign a waiver and other appropriate documentation.

Buying Advance Tickets (Online / Over-the-Phone)

You can buy tickets online by clicking TICKETS at the top of our website.

Online advance tickets are cheaper than tickets at the track on race day but you are welcome to buy at a ticket booth on property (providing there is availability).

Buying tickets online is easy! Just select what event you want to buy your tickets for, select the number of tickets you need, and then checkout.

When you get to the track, there's no need to wait in line at the ticket booth. Simply have your ticket scanned at the gate and you're ready for race day!

You can also buy tickets in advance over the phone by calling the office at (877) 440-1540. These tickets are treated the same as online tickets, and all you need to do is have your ticket scanned at the gate without waiting at the ticket booth.

How do I manage my ticket account? How do I find my purchased tickets online?

You can manage your South Boston Speedway ticket account, buy new tickets, download your upcoming event tickets, see past purchases, and more by Clicking Here to visit our Online Ticketing login page.

Question 12

I purchased tickets online. Do I have to print them?

Accepted Answer

If you purchased tickets online and chose the mobile/print-at-home option, you do not have to print your tickets. You can add those tickets directly to your mobile device!

Please note that you cannot use the PDF that is in your ticket confirmation email to scan in at the gates on your mobile device. You must add the actual ticket to your mobile device, as the PDF attachment cannot be scanned.

Note:
If you are unable to add tickets to your mobile device, then you WILL need to print your tickets before heading to the track on race day. If you are unable to print your tickets, contact the office and we will have your tickets printed and waiting for you at the Will Call window.

Question 13

Suite Passes

For most events, we offer passes for our climate-controlled frontstretch suites.

Suite passes are sold in advance online, over the phone, or in person. Visit our Schedule Page and choose the event you'd like to purchase suite passes to. There, you can check suite pass availability and click the BUY TICKETS button to purchase suite passes online just like you would purchase tickets.

Trackside Parking

We offer numerous Trackside Parking spots (Backstretch/Turns 3 and 4) where fans can park their vehicles and watch the races from a reserved area.
 
2026 Note:
Trackside Parking spots are sold on a seasonal basis, and are SOLD OUT at this time.

Trackside Parking Race Day Policy
Our policy on race day is that if anyone holding a season Trackside Parking spot doesn’t come to the event (or let us know they will be late) we will sell their spot for the event.

To find out if any spots are available the person will need to personally check with our Turn 3 ticket seller and/or Turn 4 ticket seller 30 minutes before the scheduled green flag on the day of the event. If a spot is available, the ticket seller will sell you a trackside parking spot.
 
The trackside parking spots alone are $50, and all individuals will still need to purchase tickets for the event if they haven’t already.
 
Trackside Parking Waitlist
Our waitlist for trackside parking is currently at 80 people, and we are NOT accepting wait list applications at this time. Spots rarely become available, which is why we have our race day policy for fans to still have the opportunity to experience trackside parking.

Question 15

Do you permit Camping? What is the charge for Camping?

South Boston Speedway permits camping during event weekends. There is no charge for dry/non-hookup camping. We ask that individuals set up their campsites on the backstretch side of our property, near the light pole that adjoins the Halifax County Fairgrounds property.

Hookup Camping Spots:
Halifax County does offer hookup camping on their Fairgrounds Property, for a fee. You can contact the county at (434) 476-3300. Bear in mind that these spots are not managed by South Boston Speedway.

Question 16

Smoking Policy

Open Areas:
Please respect your fellow guests by smoking in open areas away from others. This includes refraining from smoking in the grandstands, and when you're in line at the concession stands and ticket booths.

Enclosed Areas:
Smoking is NOT PERMITTED in enclosed areas (suites, restrooms, etc.). When smoking, please move away from buildings and smoke in open areas away from other guests. 
​
Infield:
Smoking is NOT PERMITTED near the fuel area or anywhere fueling is taking place, as well as the infield concession stand, or restrooms.

For the safety and enjoyment of you and other race fans, there are certain items that we ask you not to bring inside the facility.

Firearms or any other weapons
Fireworks 
Drones
Glass
Unauthorized ATVs, golf carts, etc.
Illegal substances (drugs, etc.)
Offensive signage

Group Rates / Company Outings

We are happy to welcome your large gatherings/group outing/company outing to our events. Whether it be in our grandstands or a climate-controlled suite, we have the room to make it happen.

If you are unable to join us in person for a race event, all of our NASCAR Local Racing Series events are broadcast on FloRacing. "SOBO on Flo" race broadcasts are produced by our local team, right here at the race track!
