  • Highway 501 North to South Boston, VA

  • Highway 58 East (right turn)

Nick Igdalsky

CEO, South Boston Speedway & Pocono Raceway

 

Nick Igdalsky serves as the chief executive officer at both South Boston Speedway and Pocono Raceway. Nick now resides with his family in the Pocono Mountains but is no stranger to South Boston. He spent many years as a competitor and employee at the track. He has also been a competitor in ARCA, IMSA and other stock car series. He also manages numerous other business ventures away from the racetracks. He is married to his wife,

Brandy, and they have two kids together.

Brandon Brown

General Manager

A Gerrardstown, West Virginia native, Brandon brings with him extensive experience in the motorsports industry. Brandon comes to South Boston Speedway after having worked as a producer with Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Dirty Mo Media and having worked with the CARS Tour as a digital media manager. In 2022, Brandon led the marketing, communications, and digital content management efforts for North Wilkesboro Speedway’s Racetrack Revival. Brandon began his professional career in motorsports in 2015 as part of International Speedway Corporation’s Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway. In 2018, Brandon moved to Richmond, Virginia where he took on the role of Senior Manager of Digital Strategy at Richmond Raceway. He led the track’s strategic efforts in the digital space and served as the general manager of the Richmond Raceway eSports team, which fielded two drivers in NASCAR’s highest level of virtual racing competition. Brown transitioned to a marketing role with NASCAR’s Mid-Atlantic Region then dove into the grassroots racing world at XR Events, a dirt racing events and broadcast production company. Brandon is a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He worked as a sportswriter at his hometown newspaper, then as a sports publishing project manager at IMG College before beginning his career in motorsports. He grew up watching NASCAR and attending races at Richmond Raceway, with those experiences shaping his deep love for motorsports.

Jenny Morris

Sr. Director,  Guest Services & Administration

Jenny, a native of South Boston, VA will be overseeing aspects of guest services, administration, event management and timing & scoring. You may recognize her from her previous stint at the track as a former administrative assistant and Director of Timing & Scoring.  Jenny has an extensive background in racing from her previous years at the track spanning from 2007-2017. She has also worked in timing & scoring for major regional events at other tracks, and as a Timing & Scoring Official with NASCAR. She is a graduate of Longwood University, with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies.  If you come by the office Monday- Friday you will more than likely be welcomed by her dog Sansa, the unofficial South Boston Speedway greeter, who loves everyone as well as a good belly rub or butt scratch.

Jeff Bomar

Director, Operations & Competition

 

Jeff is a familiar face at South Boston Speedway and is entering his 11th year at the track. He wears multiple hats at the facility, ranging from directing the maintenance and clean-up of the facility to taking care of what is needed to keep the track ready and prepared for the next event. In addition, Jeff serves as the speedway’s competition director, a role he has held for 10 years. In that capacity, Jeff oversees all aspects of officiating and technical inspection on race day. Jeff is also a familiar face at other tracks in the region where he can be found from time-to-time on race days when South Boston Speedway is not hosting an event. The South Boston, VA native is a proud American and is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He and his wife, Fawn, have three children.

Joe Chandler

Director, Public Relations & Track Photographer

Joe, who has worked around South Boston Speedway for many years, handles the speedway’s public relations needs and serves as track photographer.
A native of South Boston, VA, Joe enjoyed a successful 43-year career at The Gazette-Virginian newspaper in South Boston, the last 21 years of which he was the newspaper’s sports editor. He was also a photographer for the newspaper throughout his career. Joe won 50 Virginia Press Association awards across multiple writing and photography platforms including two VPA Best-In-Show Awards in photography among non-daily publications during his career. Through the years Joe assisted the speedway at various times by writing press releases for the speedway and assisting the track with photography and other needs. When Joe retired from the newspaper at the end of 2019 and was looking for a part-time job, South Boston Speedway – his hometown track – was where he wanted to go. The 2024 season will be Joe’s fifth season as a member of the speedway staff. In the community, Joe serves as a councilman on the South Boston Town Council, serves as a commissioner on the Southside Planning District Commission, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame, and is active in his church.  Joe is married to wife, Martha, and they have one daughter.

Jim Giese

Coordinator, Operations

One of the newer team members at South Boston Speedway, Jim plays an important role as Coordinator, Operations. Jim works daily tackling multiple tasks around the speedway related to maintenance, clean-up, and making sure the facilities and grounds are in top shape when the speedway hosts events. A native of New York, Jim and his wife, Wendy, moved to Halifax County, VA after having lived in Florida for many years. He has five children. In his spare time, Jim enjoys working on classic cars.

Cathy Rice

Consultant

Cathy is a native of South Boston served at the speedway's general manager  for over two decades. Her time at the speedway dates back to the 1970s. She grew up coming to the racetrack as a kid and later married her husband, Allen, who worked on a race team for Jeff Burton and also went on to be a distinguished racecar builder in the area (A&E Racecars). She started at the track doing odd jobs, including scoring and then on the administrative / operations side.  Racing is definitely in the family's blood -- her oldest son is a diehard race fan and her youngest serves as president of NASCAR Xfinity Series team Kaulig Racing.

​

She â€‹semi-retired from the speedway in 2021 but is sticking around to assist with various projects and community relations.
