Over $75,000 in Season-End Bonuses, Seven Twin-Race Events for Late Models Fuel 2026 Season at South Boston Speedway

Twin-Race Events, Lap Counts for All Four NASCAR Weekly Divisions Announced

SOUTH BOSTON, VA (January 13, 2026) – There is great incentive for racers to compete at South Boston Speedway this season as more than $75,000 in season-end bonuses will be awarded to the track’s competitors through the speedway’s Championship Loyalty Bonus program sponsored by Hitachi Energy and EMPOWER Broadband.
A $20,000 award will go to the top eligible driver in the track’s NASCAR Weekly Series Hitachi Energy Late Model Stock Car Division with payouts of $15,000, $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500 respectively going to the rest of the top five eligible drivers. All eligible drivers from sixth place back will receive a $2,000 payout.
“We are extremely grateful to Hitachi Energy and EMPOWER Broadband for continuing the Championship Loyalty Bonus program for the 2026 season,” said South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “We want the best-of the-best to compete here at South Boston Speedway, and we want our tremendous fans to enjoy a great season of racing with highly competitive fields of cars and the great level of competition created by this program.”
In addition to the Late Model bonuses, a $3,000 award will go to the top eligible driver in the Limited Sportsman Division with the next four eligible drivers receiving $2,000, $1,000, $750 and $500 respectively. The sixth eligible driver and all remaining eligible drivers will each receive a $250 award.
The top eligible driver in the Pure Stock Division will receive a $1,000 award. Payouts to the second through fourth eligible drivers are $750, $500 and $250 respectively. The fifth eligible driver and all other eligible drivers will each receive a $100 award.
A $500 award will be given to the top finishing eligible driver in the Hornets Division with the second through fifth eligible drivers receiving $250, $100, and $75 respectively. The fifth eligible driver and all eligible drivers that follow will each receive $50.
South Boston Speedway has an exciting schedule for the 2026 season with 13 event dates that will feature track and NASCAR points events plus an additional event that is among the track’s three special events.
Twin-race events provide double the action and excitement, and fans will see the thrills unfold as South Boston Speedway has seven twin-race events for its Late Model competitors slated for the 2026 season.
South Boston Speedway officials have scheduled twin-race events for its Late Model Stock Cars on April 4, May 2, May 16, May 30, July 11, August 1 and August 29. Each of those dates will feature twin 75-lap races.
“Our fans love twin-race events and we have a robust slate of them for all four of our NASCAR Weely divisions this season,” Brown remarked. “The level of excitement among both fans and competitors and the intensity of the racing seems to elevate an extra notch on twin-race events.”
New on the track’s 2026 season schedule are a pair of 125-lap races for the track’s Late Models. Those races are scheduled for April 18 and June 13.
Track officials have scheduled 100-lap races for the Late Model Division on March 21, August 22, and on Championship Night on September 12.
The track has set a total of 20 races for its Late Model Stock Car Division this season.
South Boston Speedway’s Limited Sportsman competitors will have four twin-race dates this season with twin 30-lap races. Those twin-race events are set for April 18, May 16, May 30, and August 1.
The longest race of the season for the Limited Sportsman Division will be the Kenny Meadows Memorial Limited Sportsman Feature on Saturday night, July 11. That race will go for 75 laps.
Fans will see more twin-race dates for the Pure Stocks this season with the track scheduling twin races for the division on May 16, June 13, and August 29. Twin 15-lap races are scheduled for the division on those dates.
For the second time since the division was created the Hornets competitors will have two twin-race events. Twin-race events for the Hornets are scheduled for May 2 and August 22 with twin 15-lap races set for both dates.
Two regional touring divisions that have made regular appearances at the .4-mile oval over the years will return this season.
The regional touring Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club will visit the South Boston Speedway three times this season, the first coming on Saturday, March 21. In addition, the Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club will visit the speedway on Saturday, June 13 and Saturday, August 22.
The East Coast Flathead Fords Racing Association will make its annual stop at South Boston Speedway on Saturday, April 18.
South Boston Speedway will kick off its 2026 season on Saturday afternoon, March 21 with the first of the tracks four special events, the SMART Modified Tour’s King of the Modifieds event.
That event will feature powerful 600-horsepower open-wheel tour-type Modifieds in a 125-lap race. South Boston Speedway’s Hitachi Energy Late Models will be featured in a 100-lap race. The competitors of the Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club will compete in a 35-lap race.
South Boston Speedway’s showcase Late Model event, the $10,000-to-win Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 on Saturday night, June 27, the first race of the Virginia Late Model Triple Crown, will be the longest race of the season for track’s NASCAR Weekly Series Model Stock Car Division.
That event will include a 40-lap Limited Sportsman race, a 20-lap Pure Stock race and a 15-lap Hornets race. A colorful Fourth of July fireworks display will follow the conclusion of the last race of the night.
South Boston Speedway will host the 2026 zMAX CARS Tour Championship event, the CARS Tour Championship Night, on Saturday night, October 17. That event will include a 125-lap race for the CARS Late Model Stock Tour and a 100-lap race for the CARS Pro Late Model Tour. Support divisions or series will be announced later.
