SOUTH BOSTON, VA (July 24, 2025) – It’s back to business for Trevor Ward heading into the NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Division twinbill that headlines the Saturday night, July 26 Boone Tractor Race Night presented by New Holland and Gravely event at South Boston Speedway.
During the three-week break in the racing action at South Boston Speedway Ward competed in two races with the Nelson Motorsports team, winning the pole for the team in the CARS TOUR race at Caraway Speedway and driving from his 26th starting position to finish ninth in the Hampton Heat 200. Between those races he earned a win and a runner-up finish with his own team in a twin-race event at Ace Speedway.
“It’s cool to have been offered to drive for another team that is well-established,” Ward said. “It’s been good working with those guys. It’s been about building a relationship with them and understanding how they go about things versus the way I’ve gone about things for the last 10 years. It’s just a matter of time before I win a race with them.”
While racing with Nelson Motorsports over two of the past three weekends was a good experience, Ward said his focus now is on his attempt to win the South Boston Speedway championship and the twin 75-lap Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division races that headline Saturday night’s Boone Tractor Race Night presented by New Holland and Gravely event.
“South Boston is the main focus,” Ward pointed out. “I want to finish out what my goals are at South Boston Speedway this season, finish that out strong, and be competitive leading into Martinsville.”
The Winston-Salem, North Carolina resident is enjoying a great season at South Boston Speedway, having earned four wins, nine Top-5 finishes, and nine Top-10 finishes in his 11 starts. He feels he will be able to continue the success he has enjoyed thus far in Saturday night’s twin 75-lap Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division races.
“We’ve got a really good car, a car with good balance,” Ward pointed out. “We make smart decisions. We’ve been putting a lot of time and effort into the car we raced in the Thunder Road 200, have got it back together and are still working on it. We’re trying to get it to where we can maybe get ourselves a couple more wins before the end of the season.”

The stretch run for the 2025 South Boston Speedway championship begins with Saturday night’s twin-race event. With only four nights of racing remaining in South Boston Speedway’s points season and the narrow margins among the championship contenders, each race gains an extra measure of importance.
Ward holds a slim four-point lead over Peyton Sellers of Danville, Virginia entering Saturday night’s twin-race event. Landon Pembelton of Amelia, Virginia is third, 11 points behind Ward, and Blake Stallings of Danville, Virginia sits in fourth place, 27 points out of the lead.
“I’m going to put a lot of emphasis on every race,” Ward said. “We’ve got to be smart and put good finishes together. None of it has been easy. It’s going to be a really constant battle with Peyton and Landon Pembelton the rest of the season. If one of us makes one bad move another competitor can capitalize.”
It is no surprise to Ward how close the championship battle is heading into the last few races of the season.
“One bad run for each one of us has cost us a chance of really getting away from each other,” Ward explained. “We’re right there on top of each other each week. Whether it’s luck, circumstances or whatever, it’s been a constant battle, and it’s been fun.”
Twin races are scheduled for two of South Boston Speedway’s four NASCAR-sanctioned racing divisions as part of Saturday night’s Boone Tractor Race Night presented by Gravely and New Holland event. The Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will do battle in twin 75-lap races and the drivers in the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division will be featured in twin 15-lap races. Fans will also see a 50-lap race for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division and a 20-lap race for the Dollar General Hornets Division.
Advance adult tickets for the July 26 Boone Tractor Race Night presented by Gravely and New Holland event are priced at $12. Tickets at the gate on race day will be $15 each. Suite tickets are available for $40 each. Seniors ages 65 and older, military, and students (with ID) can purchase tickets for $12 each at the gate only on the day of the event.
Saturday’s race-day schedule has registration and pit gates opening at 2 p.m. and practice starting at 3:25 p.m. Frontstretch grandstand gates open at 3:30 p.m. and backstretch and Turn 4 trackside parking gates open at 5:30 p.m. Qualifying starts at 6 p.m. and the first race of the night will get the green flag at 7 p.m.
