McCaskill Takes First Late Model Win Of Season
Deac McCaskill took the lead from pole sitter Philip Morris on the first lap and never let go to become the fourth different winner in five NASCAR Whelen Late Model Stock Car races at South Boston Speedway Saturday night in the USG Night 150.
McCaskill, from Raleigh, had to withstand a late challenge from Amherst driver and defending South Boston Late Model champion Wayne Ramsey in a green-white-checkers finish to take home the win. Ramsey started eighth but worked his way steadily through the field to take second by lap 127, but ran out of time and laps.
Morris, winner of two Late Model races this season at South Boston, finished third, followed by David Quackenbush and veteran driver Eddie Johnson.
McCaskill beat Ramsey to the line by .868 seconds in a race marred by five cautions. |
