SOUTH BOSTON, VA (April 8, 2025) – Two-time and defending South Boston Speedway Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division champion Jason Myers has historically done well in big events. That gives him confidence entering the $3,000-to-win Kenny Meadows Memorial Limited Sportsman Feature that headlines the Danville Toyota Race Day event on Saturday afternoon, April 12 at South Boston Speedway.
The 75-lap race is the 2025 season opener for South Boston Speedway’s Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division and is the longest and richest race of the season for the division.
“We always come with a lot of confidence,” the Hurt, Virginia resident remarked. “I have so many laps around this track that I know if I can get the car right, I can make the laps count.”
Myers won last year’s season-opening 75-lap Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division race at South Boston Speedway that paid $1,500 to win. He also won the $500 pole award, making his total winnings $2,000.
In last year’s inaugural Kenny Meadows Memorial Limited Sportsman Feature, a 50-lap affair held in mid-August, Myers was fastest in practice, won the pole and raced at or near the top of the field all night until he was involved in one of three incidents that occurred in the last eight laps of the race. While he finished tenth, his fellow competitors knew he had a strong car capable of winning.
Competing in the track’s 75-lap Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division race in 2023, Myers finished second after having won the pole and led the first 38 laps. He finished third in the track’s 65-lap Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division race in 2022.
“We’ve always performed pretty well in the big races,” Myers said. “We had a really good car that race. We had some unfortunate luck at the end that took us out. Hopefully we can have a similar good showing and do well this year.”
The Second Annual Kenny Meadows Memorial Limited Sportsman Feature is South Boston Speedway’s showcase event for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division. With $3,000 to win, $1,000 for the runner-up and $500 to start, it is the division’s biggest event of the season. There are additional awards as well with the $250 Anderson Turf Management Limited Sportsman Pole Award, the $250 Aqua Pros Hard Charger Award for the driver that gains the most positions in the race and the $500 Surprise Finishing Position Bonus from Ronnie Ratliff Service Center and LS Tractor that will be picked on race day adding to the pool of prizes.
“I know the Kenny Meadows Memorial race is the big race for the Limited Sportsman Division this year,” Myers noted. “It’s a good purse for the Limited Sportsman Division, so I think it will bring plenty of cars and a whole lot of competition.”

The 75-lap race is a tough race for many of the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division competitors as 50-lap races and twin 30-lap races are the norm.
“It’s just as strenuous as a Late Model race,” said Myers who also competes in select races in the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division.
“The car weighs about the same and the G-forces are similar. You’re pretty worn out at the end. Luckily, it’s at the beginning of the year instead of the middle or end of the year like it was last year. The temperatures should be a little lower, so we won’t have to deal with the heat as much. Hopefully that will help.”
A five-race card is set for the Saturday afternoon, April 12 Danville Toyota Race Day event. In addition to the 75-lap Second Annual Kenny Meadows Memorial Limited Sportsman Feature for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division competitors a 100-lap race for the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division will be the co-feature race of the day.
Fans will also see twin 15-lap races for the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division and a 20-lap race for the Dollar General Hornets Division.
Advance adult tickets for the Danville Toyota Race Day event are priced at $12. Tickets at the gate on race day will be $15 each. Suite tickets are available for $40 each. Seniors ages 65 and older, military, healthcare workers, and students (with ID) can purchase tickets for $12 each at the gate only on the day of the event.
The race day schedule has registration and pit gates opening at 8:30 a.m. Frontstretch spectator gates will open at 10:30 a.m. and practice starts at 10:30 a.m. Group qualifying begins at 1 p.m. and the first race of the day will get the green flag at 2 p.m.
