SOUTH BOSTON, VA (April 2, 2026) – A mix of veteran drivers and some new faces will greet race fans and racers alike when NASCAR Local Racing Series powered by O’Reilly Auto Parts racing action returns to South Boston Speedway with the Saturday afternoon, April 4 Danville Toyota Race Day event.
One of the new faces fans will see competing in Saturday’s twin 75-lap races for the Hitachi Energy Late Model Stock Car Division is Cory Pack of Ridgeway, Virginia. Pack will be making his second career start in a Late Model Stock Car in Saturday’s twinbill. He has raced in the Limited Late Model Division at Ace Speedway the past two seasons and finished third in points there in 2024.

“I hope to be able to run the majority of races here this year,” Pack said during a break in testing on Tuesday. “We’ve got a motor deal, so we decided to come to South Boston and see how we stack up with the big guys. We’ve got a lot to learn, and I still have a lot to learn as a driver. We’ll go by week-to-week and see what happens.”
Pack noted he is keeping his expectations in line with regards to Saturday afternoon’s twinbill.
“My realistic expectation is to stay on the lead lap with these guys,” he pointed out. “These guys here at South Boston are tough and many of them have been racing a long time. They have a notebook on South Boston, but we’re starting to build one.”
One of the veteran drivers that will be in action Saturday is Eric Winslow of Pelham, North Carolina who has 10 career wins in South Boston Speedway’s Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division. Winslow indicated he is excited to get the season started with Saturday’s 50-lap race and is looking to run the full slate of races in the Limited Sportsman Division this season.
“We’ve had it (the first race) circled a long time,” said Winslow who works with multiple clients through his business, Midnight Performance. “It’s always a lot of excitement getting back to the racetrack. It seems the winters get longer and longer. We’ve had a lot of good sponsors to step on board to help us do it this year.
“It’s basically Eddie (Slagle) and myself and we’re both coming here to race. It’s a little different story for me this year than going to Dominion and trying to pick races that I can run.”
Winslow’s goal for the 2026 season is simple – win races.
“I like to go for race wins,” he pointed out. “If we end up in the championship hunt at the end of the year, I may get a little more conservative and start points racing, but right now, I’m here to win races.”
Slagle, who has competed at South Boston Speedway in both the Late Model Stock Car Division and the Limited Sportsman Division, is moving back down to Limited Sportsman this season and is racing out of the same stable as Winslow. He competed in only two races in 2025.
“I’m really excited,” Slagle said of the upcoming start to the season. “I’m moving back down from Late Model to Limited which is better for me. I hope to have a lot more fun this year and hopefully can get back to running up front.”
Slagle said it is tough having had only two races under his belt last season.
“It’s going to be tough having been out of the seat for this long,” the Powhatan, Virginia resident remarked during a recent testing session at South Boston Speedway.
“I’m going to try to run at least half the season. It’s been a long time since I’ve been constantly in the seat so hopefully this season will be better and I can keep up with everyone else.”

Dan Rogers of Powhatan, Virginia is a veteran but is a new face fans will see in the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division this season. He finished second in the Limited Late Model Division at Dominion Raceway last season and is a two-time champion in the Dominion Stock Division at Dominion Raceway.
“We’re coming here to try something different,” Rogers said during a recent testing session. “We had been racing at Dominion Raceway and wanted to come here and try this out. It looked like a great track with a good bunch of people and a lot of good competition.”
Rogers is looking forward to Saturday’s 50-lap race for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division.
“I’m very excited,” he said. “We’re going to run the full season here at South Boston and try to win a couple of races. You always strive to get better. If we want to do well, we’ve got to go race where the best are racing. We’re coming to try to win and do our best.”
Teenager Landon McGowan of Gaithersburg, Maryland is another of the new faces fans will see in the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division at South Boston Speedway.
McGowan began racing Legends Cars last year and this season is his first season of racing a full-bodied stock car.

“I can’t wait,” McGowan said when asked if he is excited to get the season underway Saturday. “I hope I can do well and keep the car off of the wall. I’m just looking to get the lap times down and being consistent. If you’re not consistent, you’ll never win a race. If I can be consistent and get a Top-5 or Top-10 finish that will be a good result for the first race. I’m just taking it race-by-race. I’m not setting any crazy goals.”
Five races are slated for the Saturday afternoon, April 4 Danville Toyota Race Day event with twin 75-lap races for the Hitachi Energy Late Model Stock Car Division headlining the afternoon’s racing action. A 50-lap race for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division, a 25-lap race for the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division and a 20-lap race for the Dollar General Hornets Division will round out Saturday’s slate of races.
With this being an Easter Weekend event South Boston Speedway will hold an Easter Egg Hunt and a visit by the Easter Bunny at the kids’ playground at 12:45 p.m. God’s Pit Crew will be part of Saturday’s activities and will have a tent and table at the playground. Volunteers from God’s Pit Crew will have Kids Play Pails that kids can color and decorate. Those pails will go to kids in areas that God’s Pit Crew helps.
Practice will start at 10:25 a.m. and frontstretch spectator gates will open at 10:30 a.m. Qualifying starts at 1 p.m., pre-race ceremonies will start at 1:45 p.m. and the first race of the day will get the green flag at 2 p.m.
Adult advance tickets are priced at $12 each. Adult admission at the gate on race day is $15. Suite passes are $40 each. Seniors ages 65 and older, veterans and miliary personnel, first responders, healthcare workers and students with ID may purchase tickets for $12 each at the gate on race day. Kids ages 12 and under are admitted free.
