SOUTH BOSTON, VA (August 18, 2025) – Trey Williams has not had the best of seasons but is optimistic that a recent change in teams and more experience will lead to better success in his racing efforts.
The Powhatan, Virginia resident competed in his first event with the After Hours Fabrication LLC/AH Racecars team co-owned by Ryan Burrow and CARS Tour competitor Chase Burrow August 9 in the twin 75-lap Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division races at South Boston Speedway. He finished 11th in both races in his debut with the team.
“It’s a whole new environment,” Williams said. “It’s the same car we’ve had with a little bit of difference. We own the car, but we’re letting Ryan and Chase Burrow take care of it at After Hours. I’m super excited to be with these guys. They’re CARS Tour winners. They make some great cars.
“I think we’re going to have a really good rest of our year,” added Williams. “I’m very happy.”
Williams has five Top-10 finishes in his nine starts at South Boston Speedway with two sixth-place finishes being his best efforts. He stands tenth in the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division point standings despite having six less starts than the drivers in the upper tier of the standings.
“I’m not in the points,” he noted. “I’m just out here to run well and get experience. The more I’m able to get a feel for the car the better I’m able to communicate with Ryan and Chase on what the car is doing. We can sharpen each other. Experience and growth is the name of the game here. I know with time speed will come. I’m excited.”
Williams has modest goals in mind with two nights of racing and three races remaining in South Boston Speedway’s points season.
“I think overall being competitive with the fast five here, being close to the same speed they are is the big goal,” he said. If we can do that, I’m going to be very happy.”
Williams says both his season at South Boston Speedway and his 2025 season overall have been disappointing.

“We’ve had a pretty sub-par year,” he said. “We’ve had some pretty terrible luck. We’ve had a lot of parts failures. It’s hard to find speed in your car when you’re constantly fixing broken parts. I’ve been impressed when we’ve had good runs. We finally had a weekend where we didn’t have anything break and we ended up finishing sixth, right behind the best cars.
“We’re starting to pick up,” he added. “I think we’ll end the year on a good note.”
The 2025 season is Williams’ first season competing at South Boston Speedway. He smiles when he talks about the track.
“This is my favorite track,” he remarked. “It’s a fun track, multi-groove, great racing, and super fast. We’ll definitely be running full-time next year. I’m super excited for that. With a year under my belt, I’ll come back a lot better than I did at the beginning of this year. I’ll have more experience, more seat time, more laps. I think we’ll be a factor next year, as we keep gaining speed and gaining experience.”
